Become a Sponsor – Help Us Open Doors Through Language
Imagine arriving in a new country, eager to start again, but unable to speak the language. For many refugees and those seeking asylum in Sheffield, this is the reality they face. But you can help change that.
By sponsoring an ESOL class, you’ll be giving someone the key to unlock a better future.
When you sign up to sponsor a class, you’re helping us provide free English lessons to the people who need them most. These are high-quality ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) classes, taught by fully qualified and experienced teachers who understand the unique challenges our learners face. We tailor every lesson to the needs of our students, whether they've just arrived in the UK or have been here a little longer and are ready to take the next step.
The class you’ll be supporting
Our Open ESOL class runs weekly and welcomes refugees and asylum seekers from all backgrounds. It’s a relaxed, mixed-ability group designed to help learners feel safe, supported, and part of a wider community. Through language, we help people build confidence, independence, and the skills they need to truly make Sheffield their home.
What do you get as a sponsor?
When you sign up, we’ll send you a welcome pack, including our very special cookbook, Recipes for Hope a collection of recipes shared by our learners, teachers, and volunteers. If you choose a higher tier of sponsorship, you’ll also receive free entry to one of our fundraising events and even have your name proudly featured on the ‘Thank You’ page of our website.
You’ll also receive regular newsletters, so you can see the real impact of your support—stories from our classrooms, learner progress, and updates on how your donations are being used.
