Fundraising and Operations Volunteer

About the role

We’re looking for an organised, enthusiastic and proactive Fundraising and Operations Volunteer to join our team!

You’ll work alongside both our Operations Lead and Fundraising Events Coordinator to plan and deliver fun, engaging fundraising activities, while also providing practical administrative support to help keep our charity operations running smoothly.

This is a varied role, ideal for someone who enjoys organising, working with people, taking initiative and getting involved in lots of different aspects of charity work.

Your tasks will include:

Fundraising and events

Working with the Fundraising Events Coordinator to plan, organise and deliver fundraising events and activities
Building relationships with local venues, businesses and organisations that can support our events
Contacting local businesses and individuals to seek sponsorship, donations, raffle prizes and other support
Sourcing venues, materials, food and other resources for events
Developing and helping to distribute marketing and promotional materials
Helping to promote events and raise awareness of Hope English School
Helping with event set-up and delivery on the day
Supporting with other fundraising activities and ideas as they arise

Administration and operational support

Setting up teacher folders and resources before the start of term
Helping us manage and update our blog
Assisting with bookkeeping and basic financial administration
Managing and organising expense receipts
Keeping our resource cupboard stocked and organised
Helping to maintain our devices inventory
Collating donations and preparing information for donors
Volunteering in classes occasionally, if needed and available
Providing general administrative support to the team where needed

What we’re looking for

You don’t need previous experience in fundraising or charity administration, we’ll show you how everything works.

We’re looking for someone who is:

Organised and systematic
Happy to take initiative and get stuck in
Friendly and confident communicating with local businesses, organisations and individuals
Reliable and able to manage tasks independently
Interested in fundraising and supporting a local charity
Willing to learn and ask questions
Flexible and happy to help with a variety of tasks

Time commitment

We ask that you’re able to give half a day each week during the academic year, on a Wednesday.

There may also be opportunities to volunteer at fundraising events outside of your regular volunteering time.

What you’ll gain

You’ll be part of a friendly and supportive team and will have the opportunity to make a real contribution to the work of Hope English School and the students we support.

Creche Volunteer

Do you enjoy spending time with children?
We’re looking for enthusiastic childcare volunteers to help care for the children of our students in our crèche. By supporting in this role, you’ll be helping parents focus on their English lessons in a calm, distraction-free environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

Playing with, reading to, and engaging with children to keep them entertained
Setting up and tidying away toys before and after each session (with guidance from the childcare co-ordinator)

Requirements:

Volunteers must be 18 or over
You are welcome to bring your own children along if needed
You will need to provide two references, and undergo an enhanced DBS check.
Full training will be provided

Classroom Volunteer

We are currently seeking female classroom volunteers to assist in our Barnsley Women only class.

As a Volunteer Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in supporting both learners and teachers in the classroom. This is a great opportunity to gain experience, develop your skills, and make a real difference in the lives of our students.
