Books of Hope, Pages of Change: Empowering Refugees and Those Seeking Asylum Through Reading
Our Student Forum is an opportunity for those learning with is to tell us what they want from their classes. It is important for our work to be influenced by those we are working for, and so not only do we listen, we act when they tell us what they need!
We have heard from many of our learners that they would find access to reading books helpful in their language learning, and so we are looking to start a learner library. This would give those who attend our classes the option of borrowing reading books at a level appropriate to them and on subjects which are useful.
We believe that something as simple as access to a book can make a profound difference in their learning and that’s why we’re launching our fundraising campaign, Books of Hope, Pages of Change.
By getting involved in this campaign, you’re not just giving a book—you’re giving someone the chance to change their future. A book in the hands of a refugee or asylum seeker is more than just a source of learning. It’s a lifeline. It’s an invitation to a world of possibility, to a future where they can access better opportunities, integrate more easily, and build a new life for themselves and their families.
For just a small contribution, you can provide an easy reader that will open doors to literacy, confidence, and hope for those who need it the most.
How You Can Help
Your donation will go directly towards purchasing ‘Easy Reader’ books, carefully selected to suit the needs of those we work with. These books are designed to help them learn English, navigate their new surroundings, and develop a sense of belonging. With every book you help provide, you're helping to build a future of hope, opportunity, and empowerment for individuals in need.
It’s simple to get involved:
Buy a Book: Just £6 will buy one easy reader for our learning library. Donate today and know that you have brought us one step closer to building our lending library.
Fundraise for a Set: It costs £120 to buy a set of 23 books, why not join together with friends or colleagues and run your own fundraising challenge with the aim to raise £120? What about a sponsored read-a-thon?
Spread the Word: Share our campaign with your friends, family, and social networks to help us reach more people who can help.
We know that a single book might seem like a small gesture in the face of so many challenges, but its impact can be immense. With your support, we can provide hope in the form of pages—pages that represent new beginnings, new opportunities, and the potential for a brighter future.
Join us in turning the page to a new chapter for those who need it most. Together, we can provide Books of Hope, Pages of Change and make a real difference.
