Hope English School is a community interest company.

This means although we charge a minimal fee for our services, any profits made are put straight back in to initiatives which will benefit our learners and the wider community.

The School is run by a team of passionate and experienced teachers and dedicated volunteers.

Christie Kelsey  - Fundraising Volunteer  Christie is a qualified CELTA teacher, currently studying for an MA in International Public and Political Communication and volunteering at HES on the side. She is interested in working to help refugees, and be on the other side of a teaching organisation

Lucy Morley -  Digital Marketing Volunteer  Lucy has a deep love for the transforming power of education and it’s ability to empower people to change their own circumstances. She is delighted to be able to support the staff at HES as they work with the vulnerable and marginalised to learn English and provide them with hope for their future.

Katie Pendray -  Teacher  Katie has a BA in English Language and Linguistics and qualified as an ESOL teacher in 2016. Having taught most recently in Sicily, she was forced to muddle through in Italian which made her realise just how important language learning is to fully understand the culture you're living in. She loves being involved in restoring purpose and confidence through education

Natalia Smithson  - Teacher  Natalia is an experienced ESOL teacher. She has taught English language and literature in Russia for over 12 years and worked with students of differing backgrounds, ages and levels. She believes that learning each others languages and cultures can make our world a better place to live.

She is passionate about HES’ mission and believes that teaching English to people that have not had a chance to learn it is the first step in creating a brighter and more hopeful future.
